Helps for Advanced Search

    You can formulate a very accurate query search by using the retrieval language CCL (Common Command Language).

    CCL Syntax is simple to use:

  • FIND <search string> | SCAN <search string>
  • <search string> ::= <term> | <term> <boole-operator> <term > ...
  • <term> ::= <aspect> = <search term>
  • <aspect> ::= TI | AR | CR | ... (see List of Aspects)
  • <search term> ::= Your search term
  • <boole-operator> ::= AND | AND NOT | OR
  • How to use it:

    The Bottons

    and
    represent the CCL Commands FIND (for Search) and SCAN (for Index).
    You need only type in the <search string> and klick the appropriate button!

    Examples:

    Example 1: TI=science AND PY>1993
    = finds all titles with the title key-word 'science', which were published in 1994 onwards.
    Example 2: (Limited to journals collection) TI=naturforschung AND (TZ=zd OR TZ=zt)
    = finds all journals with the title key-word 'naturforschung'
    Example 3: (Accessing the author index) AU=kueng
    = accesses the author index from 'kueng' onwards
